Snow Day or Delay

8 02 2016

Superintendent's Blog

I spoke with several parents this morning regarding the weather and the decision to have school with a two-hour delay.  Most folks are interested in whether there is a set criteria that I follow when winter weather threatens.  I believe there is more of a process than a set criteria.

If not the night before, the process starts about 4:00 AM with a call to the Burlington DPW and our bus company.  Both groups have already been out driving or clearing the roads.  We discuss safety, sidewalks, commuters, school parking lots, main roads, side streets, and anything else related to safety.

MSMS Scholastic Art & Writing Award Winners!

Mrs. Rogers' BEAM Blog

It is with great pride that we announce this year’s Scholastic Art & Writing award winners!

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have existed since 1923 and the contest affords students across the country the opportunity to be recognized for their talents.  Notable winners of these prestigious awards include Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, and Robert Redford.  Judges look for originality, technical skill, and development of a personal voice and/or vision.  At the regional level, students are selected  to receive the Gold Key, the Silver Key, or Honorable Mention.  Additionally, each state nominates five selected Gold Key level awards as American Visions & Voices Nominees to be further judged with the hope of achieving the distinction of “Best of Show”.   At the national level, regional Gold Key works will advance to be judged for gold or silver medals (Congrats, Luis and Niti!).

The 2016 MSMS award winners were selected from…

2 02 2016
BHS is inviting grade 8 parents and guardians to an important and informative meeting at BHS on February 23, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.  This presentation will address the grade 8 course selection process.  Parents will learn about graduation requirements as well as how the freshmen schedule is developed.
The students will be attending their own presentation at MSMS therefore, they do not need to accompany their parents to BHS.  Student presentations will be conducted before February vacation.
