Yesterday, students competed in the National Geographic Bee at Marshall Simonds.  Winners were selected from all three teams on each grade level, and then competed against each other to become the school-wide Geography Bee Champion.

With Mr. Leslie moderating, questions were were asked on a wide variety of topics including historical, cultural and physical geography.  The opening rounds dealt with U.S. geography and the later rounds included questions on world geography – from countries, to capitals, to rivers.

Seventh grader Neil Pandit came in first place, with fellow seventh grader Liam Murphy coming in as runner-up.  Neil will now take a written exam, which will be submitted to National Geographic.  If he qualifies, he will compete in the state finals and could ultimately compete in the nationals, with the chance to win a $50,000 college scholarship.  Congratulations to all who participated.
