Professor Buongiorno breaks down and compares Nuclear Energy with other popular forms of Energy production.

Before February vacation, Professor Buongiorno from MIT gave a presentation on nuclear power to MSMS’ TechEd students. He explained how a nuclear power plant functions and how much energy one pellet of uranium produces compared to other forms of energy output.

Professor Buongiorno brought a Geiger Counter in and measured the natural radiation created by the sun. Students listened to the click of the Geiger Counter, which was patched through the Media Center P.A. for all to hear. Student response to the presentation was overwhelmingly positive as they found Professor Buongiorno’s presentation to be both entertaining and informative.
