MSMS Music Department Hosts 2017 Winter Concert

This week, the MSMS music department held their annual Winter Concert for all grades as well as a parent show on Thursday night. Among the student musical acts performing were the Concert Band, the Symphonic Band, Stage Band, our brand new String Orchestra, the House Band, Select Chorus, and Choral Union.

Our Concert Band was led by Mrs. Gendron and played the songs “Meet the Masters”, “African Folk Trilogy”, and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”.

The Stage Band and Symphonic Band were led by BHS Music Director Mr. Middleton, who filled in for MSMS music teacher, Ms. Medvitz. Among the songs played by the Stage Band  were “Gospel”, “Clarinet Marmalade”, and “Meet the Flintstones”. The Symphonic Band played “Defying Gravity”, “You Raise Me Up”, and “The Tempest”.

Our String Orchestra, which is new to MSMS this year, was led by our new music teacher Ms. Schauer and they performed the songs “Hallelujah” and “Velocity”.

Select Chorus sang the songs “Cantate Domino”, “Je Ne Fus Jamaise”, and “All Night, All Day”. Also led by Mr. Mullen were the Select Chorus and House Band, which performed the songs “Hazy Shade of Winter”, “100 Years”, and the Jazz Classic “It Don’t Mean a Thing”.

 

 

We’d like to congratulate all of the students involved in our music program for their outstanding performances! We’d also like to thank Mr. Mullen, Mrs. Gendron, Ms. Medvitz, Ms. Schauer, and Mr. Middleton for their terrific instruction! Clips of this week’s student performances can be viewed below.
