Reminder: Make-Up Picture Day is Wednesday, January 24. If you plan on having a retake make sure you bring in your unwanted photos.

The next PTO meeting will be January 31, 2018 at 6:45 p.m.Vaping Discussion with Officer Keith Sheppard will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Second Term – Grades close today Friday and Report Cards will be sent  home on Monday, January 29.

Today, teachers participated in a New England Patriots Trivia Game. We have such smart teachers and fun was had by all!

Math: (Ms. Mantia) – The Chapter 3 test was rescheduled to Monday.  Students received a study guide and are reminded that tests look very similar to the study guide.  After the test, we will begin our work with scatter plots.

ELA: (Ms. Chau) – We’ll be wrapping up Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry this week. I’m anticipating an exam for Chapters 7-12 on 1/24 (Wed). We will also begin our new unit on Twelve Angry Men (TAM). As for grammar, I hope to cover functions of pronouns and pronouns exceptions. Also, the students should be doing their independent reading for the book report assignment that is due on 1/31 (Wed).

Italian: (Mrs. Pescatore) – Students will be using the verb dovere in sentences to express what they have to or must do. Their quiz will be on Thursday, January 25th.

Spanish: (Ms. Mirabella) – Next week, students will take a quiz on Chapter 7, Words 2 Vocabulary on Tuesday, 1/23. Following the quiz, they will be introduced to stem changing/boot verbs as a grammar unit.

Spanish: (Sra. Abrams) – Spanish students will finish Palabras 2 in Chapter 7 with a quiz mid-week, after which we will start learning about stem-change verbs in the present tense.

Spanish: (Señora Barkley) – We will be working on Stem-Changing/Boot Verbs all week. Expect a quiz soon.

Health: (Mrs. Fay) –  Students will be investigating why some people become ill with a mental health challenge and some do not.   Students will complete an activity from the NIH that demonstrates  the many different risk factors for mental health issues.

ELA: (Mr. Balsamo) – This week, we finished Flowers for Algernon with a short essay and began discussing the play, 12 Angry Men. In addition, the final draft of the Roll of Thunder essay was submitted on Tuesday.

Science: (Follow @MrMarinoScience) – Students completed their “This Old House Insulation Projects” and those who made it to the final championships will compete next week. We will continue on our unit  on heat and hopefully the weather outside will join us! 🙂 Follow me on Twitter, SnapChat, Instagram and YouTube! 🙂

Math: (Mr. Peterson) –  This week, student continued working in chapter 4 of the textbook (graphing equations).  Next week, we will have a test on section 4.4 (graphing equations using slope-intercept form).

Science: (Ms. Byrne) – This week and next week we continue our study of Energy and Energy Transformations, including a pendulum lab and a skate park simulation activity.

Social Studies: (Mrs. Volpe) –  Next week the students will be learning about the development of a new political system called feudalisms.

Math: (Mrs. Wilkes) – Next week we will continue with the slope-intercept form of a linear equation.  Students will be tested on this concept, as well more questions on the slope of a line.

ELA: (Mrs. Nelson-Boyd) – Next week students will finish reading the novel Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.  We will review to prepare for an in class essay on the novel as well as a test.

French: (Mme Pescatore) – French students will have their Lesson 19 quiz on Monday, January 22nd. After an introduction to Lesson 20, they will be learning the masculine and feminine forms of the colors on page 172.

Spanish: (Sra. Abrams) – Spanish students will finish Palabras 2 in Chapter 7 with a quiz mid-week, after which we will start learning about stem-change verbs in the present tense.
