SOCIAL STUDIES: (Ms. Ellis A-13) We have finished our unit on India and will be completing our unit on China today. There will be a test on both units Wednesday, May 27th. Students received a review guide in class today.

Reading: (A-13) Students have begun the novel Max the Mighty which is the sequel to the novel Freak the Mighty. Students will be focusing on character traits and theme.

LANGUAGE ARTS: (Mrs. Sullivan A-15) Students are working on a poetry book in class as their final assessment for our poetry unit. These books contain the various poems we are working on both inside and outside of the classroom. Students are using Book Creator on their iPads to create the books. We will also be using the Great Books series in class to read two poems. Students will participate in discussions focusing on speaker, audience, and form.

Reading: (A-15) Students continue to read the novel City of Ember. We have been discussing vocabulary, character traits, and setting.

MATH: (Mrs. MacCurtain A-14)  Students did a great job on the PARCC math test this week! On Tuesday we will start our Geometry unit. The geometry that they will be learning covers topics in chapters 10, 11 and 12. We will start with a Geometry ipad project to help students learn about  all of the Geometry vocabulary. This will be worth a quiz grade. Students will also be taking the Math Placement test for 7th grade on Wednesday, May 27th.

Reading (A-14) Students will continue reading Among the Hidden  and working on vocabulary and comprehension.  If we finish the book we will start the next book in the series Among the Betrayed.

SCIENCE: (Mrs. Richardson D-103) We have been working on topography and will continue to touch upon these mapping concepts. Students have been doing a great job creating contour maps.  The final exam will be on Thursday, June 11th.  A study guide will be given.  Thank you for returning the McAuliffe slips and $ for our field trip.  If you haven’t done so, please pass it into your homeroom teacher.  We will be traveling by homeroom.  HR A14 (MacCurtain) will be attending on Wed, June 3rd.  HR A15 (Sullivan) will be going on Thursday, June 4th and HR A13 on Friday, June 5th.  HR D103 will be divided each day.  They will be assigned their day the beginning of next week.

Reading: (D-103) The students have been doing a great job using Light Sail.  They have been identifying essential vocabulary words.
