Science: (Mrs. Gorham) – Next week the students will continue their unit on Pressure. There will be a quiz on Friday. The quiz will cover Pressure vocabulary and calculations

Math: (Ms. Mantia)-. Next week we will finish the chapter on Systems of Equations.  There will be an open-notes and open-book test at the end of the week on Systems.

Social Studies: (Mrs. Volpe) –  Next week we will learn that while the Catholic Church attempted to carry out reforms, Catholics and Protestants fought bloody religious wars across Europe.

ELA: (Mr. Pearl) – Next week we will conduct our debates. Students will also continue working on their independent reading projects. See weekly assignment sheet for details.

Italian: (Mrs. Pescatore) – Students will learn how to express past actions with irregular past participles (pages 241 – 243).

Spanish: (Ms. Mirabella) – Students will finish up their in class review for the final exam. The final exam will be given to all three 8th grade teams on Thursday, May 28th. Extra help to prepare for the final exam is available after school on Tuesday 5/26!

Spanish: (Mrs. Abrams) – Spanish students will have a quiz on the forms of -ar verbs in the preterite (past) tense. We will also study the irregular verb forms “ir” and “ser” in the preterite tense.

Latin: (Mrs. Matthews) – Next week we will read how the Romans worshiped the Goddess Isis. We will also talk about the vocative and how it is used in Latin.

Health: (Mrs. Fay) –  Students will begin the unit on Human Sexuality.  Our focus will be on normal functioning of the reproductive systems.

Health: (Mrs. Eovine) – Students will be continuing the unit on Human Sexuality.  The focus will be on the male reproductive system.  There will be a quiz the second class meeting of the week.

Math: (Mr. Peterson) –   This week, students finished reviewing for PARCC, and took the math PARCC on Wednesday and Thursday.  Next week, we will finish working on chapter 10 (factoring), and we will have a test on chapter 10.

Social Studies: (Mrs. DiSipio) – Students will study the Counter-Reformation next week and the religious wars that were fought between the Catholics and Protestants.  Students should expect a quiz on Chapter 17, Section 2 and should review their presentation and vocabulary notes.

ELA: (Mrs. Bergeron) – We will be finishing our poetry unit next week and starting “Flowers for Algernon.”  Students will be asked to read the story both in and out of class.  We will have vocabulary, quizzes, and comprehension questions to go along with this unit.  Students should be half way through with their independent reading books by the end of the week.  We will also be starting our year-end grammar review for the test that is scheduled on June 9th.

Science: (Mr. Marino) – Students have begun the unit on pressure. They will continue working with the equation P=F/A and will differentiate between, Air, Physical and Liquid pressure.

Italian: (Mrs. Pescatore) –  Students will learn how to express past actions with irregular past participles (pages 241 – 243).

Spanish: (Señora Barkley)–  Students will have their DOP and IR/SER (past tense) quiz on Monday and will be working on their vacation projects for the rest of the week.

Spanish: (Ms. Mirabella) – Students will finish up their in class review for the final exam. The final exam will be given to all three 8th grade teams on Thursday, May 28th. Extra help to prepare for the final exam is available after school on Tuesday 5/26!

French: (Mme Abrams) – French students will have a quiz on pages 200-4 in Lesson 22, on using the verb “aller” (to go) with places around town. We will then study the preposition “chez” (at the house of), also in Lesson 22.

Health: (Mrs. Fay) – Students will begin the unit on Human Sexuality.  Our focus will be on normal functioning of the reproductive systems.

 Math: (Mrs. Wilkes) – Next week students will be studying polynomials, including adding and subtracting polynomials, multiplying polynomials, and factoring polynomials in the form x2+ bx + c.

Social Studies: (Mrs. Bova) -. Next week, we will review how humanists spread ideas and Renaissance artists created great paintings and sculptures.  A quiz will be given on Chapter 17 Section 2 later in the week.

Science: (Mr. Hickman) –  Next week, students will continue their study of atmospheric pressure. Research on a scientist biography assignment was begun today in the library and the final two page letter recommending the scientist for a Nobel Prize is due on Friday, June 5, 2015.

ELA: (Mrs. Nelson-Boyd) – Next week we will continue reading the play The Diary of Anne Frank.  Most of the reading will take place in class, as the students are enjoying taking on roles and reading, however; some of the scenes will need to be finished at home.
Students should continue reading their independent novel.  It needs to be completed by June 2nd.
We will also continue to review punctuation and begin reviewing for the end of the year grammar test on June 9th.
