SOCIAL STUDIES: (Ms. Ellis A-13) Students are currently creating a quiz on Asia, which will serve as a review of the unit. Next week we will briefly look at sub-Saharan Africa, highlighting the effects of European colonization, as well as resources, climate, and landforms. It has been a pleasure working with your children this year… have a wonderful summer!

READING: (Ms. Ellis A-13) Students will continue reading their free choice book.

LANGUAGE ARTS: (Mrs. Sullivan A-15) Students just handed in a final draft of their essay for the short story, The Witch Who Came For The Weekend. Students are working on their fantasy/science fiction book projects in class. Students are creating an interview in which they question one character from their novel. These interviews will be filmed using iMovie. We also will discuss verb tenses and how to use them appropriately in our writing. I have had a wonderful year with your children and wish you a great summer vacation!

Reading: (A-15) Students continue to read the novel, Among the Hidden. We will end the year reviewing vocabulary and literary terms we have discussed and used this past year.

MATH: (Mrs. MacCurtain A-14) Students did a great job on their Geometry book project on their ipads! For the last two weeks of school, students will be finishing up the rest of Geometry.  There will be one last quiz on using formulas to solve geometry problems.  

READING: A14  – Students will finish reading “Freak The Mighty” and will be watching “The Mighty,” which is a movie based on the book.

SCIENCE: (Mrs. Richardson D-103)  We had a great start to our McAuliffe trip!  Monday will be the last day.  Nice job!!  We will be studying the moon phases and the reason for the seasons.  Students will be making illustrations for eclipses and learning about the earth-sun-moon system.  I will be collecting textbooks beginning next Wednesday (CSOE AND EMAP). Your child will be going home with his/her portfolio filled with sample work from the year.  I have enjoyed working with your children this past year and wish you a wonderful summer vacation!

READING: D103 – We are finishing up our graphic novel series.  Nice work on Lightsail this year!
